Debut album from instrumental wonderkid Mike Oldfield, the first million seller for both Oldfield and his label boss Richard Branson. The eerie music was used to great effect in the film 'The Exorcist' and remains synonymous with it still.Apart from Vivian Stanshall, who announces the instruments as they appear, every note was played by Oldfield himself.

The record that launched the Virgin empire, and what a launch. Tubular Bells is a classic. "Ommadawn" was Afro-Celtic "Hergest Ridge" was pastoral but "Tubular Bells" was the classic which begot them all. A very English piece of work which remains as important today as it did in 1973, who can forget the introduction being used in "The Exorcist". Simply a must. Get it today.
